Foundations

UnitedDog Agility Tuesdays 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the Blue Matted Room Instructor: Katie Brennan Dates: Jan 21, Jan 28, Feb 4, Feb 11, Feb 18, Feb 25 $180 for the 6 week session
Dogs in this class may be any age over 5 months old, but must have some basic obedience experience and be able to focus with other dogs working. Emphasis will be on having fun while learning some of the skills necessary to move on to competition classes if desired. Enjoy learning about agility without the worry that you or your dog will be overwhelmed.
The semester will cover teaching play drive skills, restrained recalls, and target sends, as well as sends around and through obstacles. You and your dog will also learn some of the easier crosses and some of the basic obedience skills needed to have fun putting a few obstacles together. If you've ever wanted to try agility, this class is for you!
Pinelands Dog Training Center Wednesdays 1:00pm - 2:00pm in the Small Ring Instructor: Katie Brennan Dates: Jan 15, Jan 22, Jan 29, Feb 5, Feb 12, Feb 19 $150 for the 6 week session
Foundations One is ideal for those new to agility or those looking to start a new dog. This class is designed for puppies at least 5 months of age or adult dogs who have had no previous agility training. Dogs should have the following basic obedience skills: sit, down, come, stay, and the ability to focus on their handler with other dogs nearby. Topics covered will prepare your dog for success in most dog sports. Foundation class is not only for those looking to compete, as this class is designed to build confidence in your canine team in and out of the ring.
Skills Covered: Developing handler focus when other dogs are working, two on two off, hind end awareness, fitness/balance board work, target training, developing toy and food drive, restrained recalls, come to hand, recalls to heel, crosses on the flat, cone work, and sends around jump standards. Also introduced in this session are the teeter, tunnels, different surfaces and inclines, steps, and more!

Work will continue with curved tunnels and low jumps. More advanced handling and short sequences will be introduced as we keep up with start line stays and recalls. Dogs who are physically mature enough will start learning 2x2 weave entrances, working towards 6 poles.

Pinelands Dog Training Center Fridays 5:30pm - 6:30pm in the Small Ring Instructor: Caitlin Puskas Dates: Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31, Feb 14, Feb 21 ***Please Note No Class on Feb 7th*** $150 for the 6 week session Foundations Two/Three is a continuation of Foundation One/Two. This class is for dog/handler teams who have completed Agility Foundations One and are ready to move on to greater challenges. Work will continue on lowered contact equipment (a-frame, teeter, dog walk), curved tunnels, and low jumps. More advanced handling and short sequences will be introduced as we keep up with start line stays and recalls. Dogs who are physically mature enough will start learning 2x2 weave entrances, working towards 6 poles.
Pinelands Dog Training Center Fridays 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the Big Ring Instructor: Caitlin Puskas Dates: Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31, Feb 14, Feb 21 ***Please Note No Class on Feb 7th*** $150 for the 6 week session This class is for dogs over 12 months of age that have already completed Foundations One, and Two/Three. We will continue to work on building and maintaining focus while in a larger ring around more equipment. All contacts are available to be lowered for this class, and guides will be utilized for weave poles. We will work on short sequences, typical sequences will range between 5 and 10 obstacles, jump grids, and contact motivation in this class.
UnitedDog Agility Thursdays 11:00am - 12:00pm in the Turf Room Instructors: Jessica Ajoux and Katie Brennan Dates: Jan 23, Jan 30, Feb 6, Feb 13, Feb 20, Feb 27 $180 for the 6 week session This class is for dog/handler teams who are ready to begin sequencing obstacles together. Dogs should have been exposed to all contacts, as well as weaves.
UnitedDog Agility Thursdays 12:00pm - 1:00pm in the Turf Room Instructors: Jessica Ajoux and Katie Brennan Dates: Jan 23, Jan 30, Feb 6, Feb 13, Feb 20, Feb 27 $180 for the 6 week session
In this class, the emphasis will be placed on putting together longer sequences and developing the skills necessary to start competing. Full height contacts will be used, as well as 12 weave poles.

This class is perfect for those wanting to work towards eventually competing, or for those looking to add to their agility training skill set. Emphasis will be on having fun while learning some of the more advanced fundamentals of agility. Typical sequences will range between 8 and 15 obstacles. This class uses full height contact equipment, but guides for weaves, and boxes for the teeter are welcome!

This class is great for those already competing and are looking for some additional help on proofing contacts, building drive/motivation, or just concentrating on further developing your handling skills. We focus on having fun, and working on each teams challenge areas in a fun and innovative ways. This class works on a different skill each week and is always changing depending on the needs of the group. We also welcome suggestions and requests for this class.
